TALES OF OLD TIME TEXAS

Little, Brown and Company, 1955. First Edition. Brown spine with gilt letters and yellow boards. No Dust Jacket. Corners have wear spots.

J. Frank Dobie's best friend was Walter Prescot Webb. The University of Texas professor that wrote "Tales of the Texas Rangers" and sold the rights to Hollywood in 1935 for $25,000. He used the money to buy Friday Mountain Ranch. He and J. Frank Doby and their other buddies, like Fred Gipson, the author of "Old Yeller", would go out there most Friday nites and "turn the dogs loose" with a pint or two each and cheese and crackers and tell stories. They still do! You can drop by the Texas State Cemetary on East Seventh St. in Austin and see how close they are burried to each other. Park next to General Albert Sydney Johnston and walk up the steps to your right.

If you love Texas they will be glad to have you visit.
