This French movie was made in 1939 as "Macao, l'enfer du jeu" with Erich von Stroheim. Shortly after, in the spring of 1940, Hitler invaded France and von Stroheim's movies were banned by the NAZIs in Germany and all their occupied countries. It was shelved until 1942 when it was released as
"L'enfer du jeu"
with
Pierre Renoir playing von Stroheim's roll.
After the war, the original film could finally be released.
This poster is an original Danish poster for the original movie with the original cast being finally released for the first time in Denmark with von Stroheim and without Renoir. It is an original first release, delayed by the NAZI's hatred of Eric von Stroheim.
