SKU: ![]() ![]() ˙˙˙˙ That is why we have made this major change in this series, The Illustrated History of Movie Posters. Each new volume in this series now contains sixty of the finest posters from a single genre, with EVERY poster receiving a full-page and each volume is printed with the exact same standards of quality of the earlier series.. Since the cover price of each volume is just $14.99, that means the cost per image is just 25 cents! ˙˙˙˙ For this volume, 60 Great Sci-Fi Movie Posters (and for the second volume I published at the same time, 60 Great Horror Movie Posters), we were faced with a difficult question. Exactly where is the dividing line between "horror", "sci-fi" (and "fantasy")? We don't believe there is a good answer to this question! In our view, horror films must contain a desire to scare the viewers, and should have fantastic elements that could never happen in reality. Sci-fi films should be solidly based in reality, with elements that may well be possible someday, thanks to advances in science. Fantasy films should contain some contrary-to-fact elements (like magic or backward time-travel), but should not be based on a desire to scare the viewer. But even with these loose definitions, assigning films to these genres is still very difficult, so in the end we just took our best guess and divided these genres into two groups, putting all those films we deemed as "horror" in 60 Great Horror Movie Posters, and all those films we deemed as "sci-fi" or "fantasy" in 60 Great Sci-Fi Movie Posters," says Bruce Hershenson.
